It is a race against time, with the lives of our mothers, sisters, daughters and friends hanging in the balance. Each year 1.1 million women worldwide are diagnosed with breast cancer, and 410,000 die from the disease. Imagine being able to stop the breast cancer disease and its tragic consequences.
At Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, we make every penny count. In fact, 85 cents of every dollar spent goes toward our treating and curing breast cancer.
It may be your donation that pushes us past a major turning point in discovering and delivering the cures. On behalf of the women who will be diagnosed this year, next year and in the decade ahead, we urge you to do as much as you can as soon as you can. You can rest assured we'll put your contribution to good use.
Merchandise can be purchased through shopkomen.com and will benefit the Komen West Virginia Affiliate. Twenty five percent of your purchase price will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in the fight against breast cancer by MainGate, Inc., Komen for the Cure’s Official Merchandise Partner. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Affiliate stays in West Virginia. The remaining income goes to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program to fund research. As a Komen Affiliate we address unmet needs by assessing breast health care gaps in our communities and award local grants for breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. Events such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure®, Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink for the Cure®, Susan G. Komen Marathon for the Cure® allow people to celebrate and honor loved ones touched by breast cancer while financially supporting Komen’s promise.
