DOCTORS FOR THE CURE®
An Event WITH A MISSION
In 2010, Doctors for the Cure® was presented for the first time and you responded, in its third year, the program continues to offer the medical community the opportunity to help eradicate breast cancer and show their support for the women and men still fighting this disease. What a great sight it is on Race Day to see our Special Doctors for the Cure Tent area with information and logo items to educate participants about their specialties.
Founded in 2000, the WV Affiliate of Susan G. Komen held its first Race for the Cure in 2001. Since its inception, the WV Komen Affiliate has granted over $2,000,000 to local hospital’s and organizations and over $500,000 to the National Komen Research Grant Program.
7000 participants made the 2011 Race for the Cure, the largest athletic event in West Virginia. We are projecting over 8,000 participants, hundreds of volunteers and spectators to join us on May 5th 2012 so we invite you to join us for our second annual Doctors for the Cure®.
